Well, hello again.
Previously on “here and there” (aka this blog); a few adventures in pre-med land… I’m now accepted to medical school. I’d like this blog to be more of a personal landing place for my “IRL” activities. Maybe some musings along the way in medical school. Less like my ”internet scrapbook” tumblr, more like a blog with actual posts. We’ll see.
I should matriculate to medical school this August; “where” is still pending. I’m waiting to hear back from a few places. The excitement of going back to school is catching up with me and slowly converting to slight anxiety. Gotta turn that brain back on! Thankfully, I’ve worked in the emergency room as a scribe for physicians so I’ve had ample exposure to continuous medical learning. This will hopefully ease the transition for me (a little bit) into that little white coat…
To celebrate success, I went to Disneyland with Ryan this weekend.
Before leaving, mom treated me to lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. We shared the pineapple upside down version.
Ryan checking out the map and the day’s special events. We were mainly interested in which rides were closed. Only splash mountain was under construction!
As soon as California Adventure opened, we made reservations at Ariel’s Grotto which included 2 passes to “preferred dining seating” to World of Color. It was semi-worth it; the crowds were just too crazy to get a wonderful seat to the show. Second order of business was MIDWAY MANIA, ONLY THE BESTEST “RIDE THAT IS A GAME, GAME THAT IS A RIDE, STEP RIGHT UP AND SEE WHAT’S INSIDE”; The line was a mile long. I’m not kidding.
For breakfast (yeah…) we had the bleu yonder burger; bleu cheese, side of onion rings…
Me. hydrating.
Ride screw up #1. We were stuck on Pirates for no less than 20 minutes for “technical difficulties”. Holy potatoes! It would have been better had they turned of the repeating audio… one can only take pirate heckling approximately 30 times in a row.
To escape the heat/crowds, we attended Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. The gallery before the show is really worth it for Disney geeks like us. It’s nice to be reminded that California Adventure was a parking lot…
Sourdough bread at Ariel’s Grotto
Ryan’s “piece” of the bread
Appetizer sauces; pesto, whipped butter, ranch
Antipasto tower from top; olives, endive (delicious!), cheeses, roasted veggies, and citrus salad
Entrée; salt crusted filet, roasted veggies
Dessert time! Macaroons, meringue type thingys, chocolate tart, white chocolate film strip, tiramisu cup, and molten chocolate cake.
RYAN LUV WHITE CHOCOLATE FILM STRIPZ
The carnage.
Tron bike. SWOOOOOOOOOOOOON.
Ride screw up #3 (#2 has no photos. Haunted mansion x5 mins); peter pan ride. Dead stop for about ~10 minutes. Lights were on. WEIRDDDDD.
Shaky photo of our ride screw up compensation; a fast past to any ride (minus midway mania)
I love going to Disneyland. I tend to go at least twice a year. This experience was nice because I got to spend quality time with Ryan; we ate great food, and had a lot of time to de-stress from work/life/etc. The crowds at Disney were horrendous though; almost enough to get me to never go to DL again during the weekend. It’s just miserable fighting with/getting run over but the hoards of strollers and wheelchairs. Still a great trip, still wouldn’t trade.
